A Scandinavian form of the German Heimatdichtung, heimstaddiktning refers both to literature that has a writer's rural home district as its setting and that celebrates or memorializes this setting. The heyday of this type of writing in Scandinavia was the period 1900-1940, and the Jutland novels of Jeppe Aakjær are its outstanding example.
